I will never ever buy another roccat product..

The sound in that headset is so damn terrible.. only way to fix the shit sound was to put in the steelseries 5h usb cord between the headset and pc (but the usb port gets very hot by doing this..)

Any roccat product = NOT RECOMMENDED..

one of the few headset I would recommend is the steelseries 5h v2 usb, perfect sound, and feels like 5.1 sound (rly)

So I checked out this interview http://www.chewyconsoles.com/2010/08/roccat-kave-true-51-surround-sound.html

+ 5.1
+ Good for gaming/movies, still decent for music
+ Handy remote with equalizer, mute button and mute LED
+ Optional vibrating feature, could be cool for movies (or for girls lol)

- Weight
- Amount of cables=no surround sound on my laptop

Are there any others which can compete with the Kave in this pricerange? I don't really worry about the weight anymore, just got to get used to it. My soundcard should be fine(?)

Thx for the replies :)

Thanks, but I don't really like the look of headphones (especially for gaming purpose). Also I don't really like to use an external mic. Also I'd prefer the headphones closed and since the DT770 Pro (€150) is even more expensive than a PC350 (€130) it's a big no for me.

Fair enough, pc350 is basically a closed HD555 (but a bit worse) with no mic though just so you know.

music...kave...just no.
If you want a low end pair of music headphones get a pair of hd555's if you don't mind them open, DT770 pro's if you want closed.

For a bit more you could get something open like ath ad700's / hd595s also.

I have the Kave, and yes, it's heavy. I found it to be a bit annoying at first, but I'm used to it now. The sound is great, the microphone WAS great (though it was kinda oddly placed, worked perfectly anyway), but for some reason it broke. I'm using a seperate microphone now. Not sure about your soundcard though, it should work fine, afaik.
As Linus says, it's a good headset, but I'm not sure if I'd recommend it over any other good headset.

My Kave broke after half a year usage, though it was because I rolled over the cable with my chair quitee a few times :D

It's VERY bulky and heavy, actually was a pain to wear it in the hot summer days, and it's not LAN friendly at all. The sound quality's good though (I also used it with my onboard soundcard), although my G35 does sound better with its inbuilt soundcard(then again, it is more expensive aswell).

It's a good headset overall though.

Hey, I'm thinking of getting a Roccat Kave. Right now I'm using the Fatal1ty but I want something better for my gaming and music experience.

- I read the headset is quite heavy, can I easily get used to it or do you keep "feeling" the headset on your head?
- I have a Realtek ALC883 soundcard on my mobo, is this enough to get the full experience out of this headset or should I get something better?
- Is it a durable headset?
- Would you recommend the PC350 over the Kave price/quality-wise and why (€60 more), if yes do I also need a new soundcard for this one? If so I'm probably not gonna get a PC350.

I hope you can help me out =D. Thx in advance!
