Counter-Strike: Source Beta Update Released
-Optimizations to multi-core rendering
Unless we find problems in the beta it will be in the next update to the shared engine so TF2, CS:S and DOD:S will all have it at that point.

gonna test myself on css now, and post results :]]] in pub it did seem better, but not sure yet

Do you have HDR and Motion Blur enabled on normal CSS?
They are both disabled on CSS Beta IIRC, even if you enable them in options (so more FPS).
Anyway, did the test as well (with Motion Blur/HDR disabled on both games):
CSS 153 FPS
CSS Beta 176 FPS
