I think it's fixed now. No idea what happened, but I've just managed to play a few mixes and experienced no crashes. Took lowering AGP speed to 4x, lowering hardware acceleration level for gfx card, installing newest release of DX9c. changing IDE cable for secondary drives (wut) and some other gizmos I won't probably be able to remember.

Thanks for help anyway.

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/24277191/Minidump.zip
Pack of minidumps for those interested. One is really weird (I think it's second from the end), mentioning ndis.sys, tdi.sys and irda.sys.
I was running 1GB DDR-266 on my previous setup for quite long time and didn't experience any trouble. I'm almost sure it's my mobo that is screwing around with me and I need to be 100% sure about it before Sat, so I could return it.

Basically, from what I know now, other components are not the cause of this for 80% as I ran benchmarks, memtest and other games (QL and UT2004) without problems. mat_queue_mode 0 doesn't make any difference as well.

L4D2 acts weird though, as it doesn't throw unhandled exceptions all around, it just makes pc speaker low pitch beep once in the beginning and crashes to desktop after intro, without messages or dumps.

Yes, and it goes well with the 266 mhz fsb motherboard. Slow, granted, but this shouldn't cause crashes.

You indiciated to only have this problem in tf2 and not other games - hence you cannot conclude that it's definitely your disk.

I understand why you'd think an fps config has nothing to do with it, but consider this; Valve could have changed some internal behaviour that may trigger bugs, based on w/e settings you may be using in your config. I'm not saying this is definitely the case - I'm merely pointing it out as a possibility.

I've just managed to launch TF2 with autoconfig just to see some weird shit on Snowie's timedemo, i.e. frozen models, no rocket trails, no viewmodels, weird colors on red scout, so I really don't know what the hell is going on, sir - that is the only thing that frustrates me.
