Then as it was already pointed out in this thread it is broken cord. Quite popular problem among logitech mice. I fixed my 518 by cutting about 5 cm of wire near mouse and soldering remaining part (now 5 cm shorter) back to plug. You can also try and contact Logitech if it's still under warranty.
