Hello, sorry for the delay on this post :)
All authors should e-mail myself (akill@lansomemore.co.uk) by the end of monday with an attachment or a link to a place to download the submission version of an entered map.
Please include ‘ETF2L MAPPING CONTEST’ in the e-mail subject and include your nickname + map final version name in the e-mail itself.
Include the tactics document with the e-mail. The tactics document is optional but if you wish to give the judges and playtest teams more insight to the quirks of the map it can only work to your advantage to include one. (Give them some options to try out)
A panel of 6 judges will have been chosen by the following friday for judging over the weekend (4th -5th april) This is to allow the panel free time to judge the map properly as most will be busy with weekday PCW’s :P.
Judges will discuss the maps as a group and rate the maps individually based on various criteria. The top4 scoring maps will then go through to a round-robin league consisting of 8 teams for 8 rounds, with the last matchup mirroring the first matchup. The first 4 rounds will play the top and 4th scoring maps. And rounds 5-8 will play the 2nd and 3rd highest scoring maps.
We aim to run the round-robin league as 2 ‘one-night-cups’ with a week gap. Exact dates to be scheduled later on. The first 4 rounds will be played at least a week after all 8 teams have been chosen/conscripted :)
As soon as the top 4 maps have been picked, the #tf2.playtest.pickup will run with only those top 4 maps. !vote will be enabled at this point
After the mini-league is finished each team will be asked to rate the maps 1 through 4 points. With a community poll vote awarding the same points through percentage basis. The map scoring the highest amount of points will be declared the winner and a very prestigious ETF2L cup will be hosted in the maps honour at a later date
Many thanks to the map authors, playtesters, teams Fakkelbrigade and N3^, ETF2L staff and F2 for helping the competition to progress to this point.
I think the panel of judges should be replaced by me.
All hail the hole in the roof <3

Worst idea ever.
I was gonna say gogo greenvalley, but fiiine! </3
still worst idea ever, where would we come if girls dominated the game scene, its even enough your the first female div 2 player ;)
Good luck to all contestants. Let’s hope for a good amount to show, as any mapping contest tends to have a large percentage of dropouts.
seriously, the hole is the best thing… ever
Im intrested in joining the panel, experienced gamer, many different game backrounds, just let me know where i can apply for it?
How the judges will be chosen ? Top players ? League admins ? People who playtested a lot ?
Anyway, thank you for this refreshing playtest pick-up channel, it made me enjoy TF2 again when I was really really fed up with “granlands” pick-ups. And gg to all my fellow playtesters :p
i think even if we decide the map winner and etc, we should still keep the channel, that way, the community will still have new maps to play and it will incentive map creators to develop new maps!
just a thought though.
Any updates on this contest? It’s monday, so it would seem logical that some judging or whatever has been done.
Seconding update request…
We mappers are not known for our immense patience
