Coverage, shoutcasting and publicity would all benefit this schedule, and for all the participating teams it would be a good thing because you have some time to focus on the national team instead of playing the games in between normal clan games.

If players can't make the nations cup, you use other players. Yes it might not be your best team, but you don't reschedule Euro2008 if a player is injured.

I agree USA and Canada probably shouldn't be included as timezones are issues and because its a European league. They could be included though if it is a fixed schedule.

To be hounest, i would much rather see the whole event played over a period of a few weeks, in a similar format to the Euro2008 football league. E.g., groups playing on the same night, then the next night another group plays. This would allow more publicity for the actual event, rather than people wondering when a certain game is played. It could also be spammed in IRC/Websites.

As a member of the dutch team id be happy to get these nations cups started as soon as possible BUT in the coming 2 months i (and with me prolly many others) will be on holidays for a few weeks spread over the whole vacation. So organising a cup then will leave the teams with halffilled rosters and will force them to get weaker players playing the games as they need to get a team fixed. For this reason id rather see the cup organized NOW (ive got vacation already :p) or do it next two months and give the teams loads of time to schedule the matches. Also, you guys might want to move it to the winter because there should me more crowd then.

My opinion in the etf2l/esl cup is: I cant see the problem with playing both, even if they are organized at the same time. The more the marrier :)
And i would welcome american and canadian teams but isnt it a bit strange for an european tf2 league to get those teams playing? Might better do those teams in some sort of "supercup final" with the best european teams

cheers, vlijm

I am from Luxembourg. As you may know Luxembourg has two Team Fortress 2 Clans. MTF and BSD. But recently BSD wanted to stop playing Team Fortress 2. The few members left joined the .#mtf.BSD Squad. So there is only one Luxembourgish Clan left. But can we still sign-up for the Cup ?

If we waited until another time where there isnt much on we'd be waiting for an era. Between i34, CDC5, PCGamer, and cgs your looking at october or later before thats over with before any other lans have been announced. On top of that by then you will probably have ETF2L League, Multiplay league, ESL's cups/tournaments, Enemy Down, and then chuck into the mix that at the end of september a load of players and teams will be lost to Warhammer Online, similar to what AoC did recently.

This is being done over 2 months to give it time guys. Your looking at having to play just 3 group stage games in a month, and to be fair we are also generally pretty helpful and understanding in when the games are to be played by. We know there is other stuff on guys and there always will be, and we can allow for that fact as well as it being summer. The ETF2L admin team is pretty active and helpful so you guys know your going to get a good amount of support in playing this.

And I do say again, we do also welcome all feedback in private as well as posting here.

Hi all.

I'm all in favor for a nationscup. But if it happens, I want it to be something big. With all the best players from each country, practising together and then finally show who's the best country to play this game.

But with all the events coming up this summer... I can't see it happening. For me 4K will always come first, and I believe alot of others feel the same about their clans. So what will then happen to the national teams? It surely wont hold the best players of each country, and then It'd just be meaningless.

So to sum it up; I like the idea of the nationalcup, but the timing is just too bad.
