    	    <description><![CDATA[mipmapping is useful because it decreases texture quality over distance (even over max sv_cheats limited mat_picmip values), I've not experienced this myself, but I don't play badwater :p

i figured it was either something to do with the filtering or the mipmapping, thanks for sorting it out.]]></description>

    	    <description><![CDATA[Yeah, that's what I meant Chris, it was happening on every map for me.

I think cookye has sorted it, in your config mat_mipmaptextures was set to 1, he suggested changing it to 0, seems like the banding has gone.

Edit: I was too late :P
