i got the Kinzu and i have to say its been stable since the day i installed it,
previously always having razer mice and them failing on the hardware generally the chord,
i went with the steelseries and it has been a good solid buy,
drivers are fine, configs load well and generally the mouse is a nice size
the weight of the mouse is fine
however i cant comment on the mousemat issue but overall its a good solid performer
price wise i would have to say a little over priced if im honest.

Bought one, worked fine for the first few weeks, but soon the drivers didn't load correctly, there was cursor jumping and it changed sensitivity every time I booted up, was so frustrating, would not recommend it, yeah it's a small and good looking mouse but the one I got was so bad, now I see why it was so cheap and in a deal on overclockers :3

Maybe getting a qck with it free and using it could have been a factor for it's failure, like appe said, but for me it certainly wasn't only that, as the drivers didn't load correctly after 3 weeks :(

Also there is positive acceleration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9O4h2OP1DI

Microsoft mice ftw!

the kinzu is _very_ small, smaller than the g3, consider the xai instead, but bear in mind both mice have possitive accel, although on 20cm/360 you'll barely notice it. The G5 or G500 are perfect in terms of accurate 360's, but the g5 will skip at low sens, the G500 is a beast, although the side buttons are annoying.

Well my opinion is the same about Razer too. I've had my mx518 for ~about 5 years now and still works like a charm. I've had my Sennheiser headset for over 5 years and that too still hasn't broke.

That's with all brands. I buy a new DeathAdder every year.

I don't know anything about the Kinzu. But I read some reviews and they were pretty good.

For the mousemat, don't take a cloth one. Since you say you want a light mouse, I guess you want lighter tracking too. Cloth can be heavy to play on sometimes. So get a SteelSeries SX (I think, I only use Qck+ :D ).
