That's the thing though, it's so easy to pull the equalizer out at ~100hp and the enemy will think you're low, so they'll do some damage, but it just makes you more dangerous, so it can be easy to get some cheap kills that way. You say its easy to kill them, but if they surprise you then you're usually fucked. Bear in mind that 30hp soldiers are easy to kill but 30hp soldiers running almost at scout speed and surprising you aren't so much.]]></description>

    	    <description><![CDATA[Valve did ninja patch them a while back. The only bug that's left is when attempting a rocket jump, and an enemy is within the range of the rockets splash damage, but wouldn't get hurt (wall in the way), damage reduction for the gunboats doesn't happen. The same when rocket jumping away from ubers, which is a shame. 

They are a strong unlock, having an extra soldier at mid can be great, that being said they still need a little something for sacrificing the shotgun. You shouldn't be able to run them with the shotgun though, it would just be ridiculous (even if you did loose the equalizer for it). 

Another annoying thing is this ( and I don't care how good you are this will happen to you one day!)

Ammo management fail 101:

Running into second, firing away, incoming spam... Uber... few that was close...ow ♥♥♥♥ no more rockets...♥♥♥♥ now I have my equalizer out and I can't be healed or ubered anymore...and can't swap back to the rocket launcher because I have no ammo.. facepalm... *Medic rage meter has increased*

Personally it be nice if when you took gunboats it swaped your shotgun for a pistol, giving you a mediocre weapon for when you run out clip when your up close. Wouldn't really increase your long-mid range potential seeing as you could just reload an extra rocket for better effect. It would also make the weapon a little less situational. But I doubt valve would do that.]]></description>

    	    <description><![CDATA[The gunboats would be a perfectly decent option as they are now if it wasn't for the fact that they're bugged so you take full damage if you're explosion radius clips one of your own team (I'm assuming valve haven't ninja fixed this at any point?). 

If this was fixed then I'd use them on badlands all the time as you can turn up at mid as the same time as the scouts/demo and really impact the mid fight.. however with them being bugged (and getting to mid fast requiring jumping out of spawn during set up) this generally means taking 70hp damage for your first jump and then ending up with 60hp when you do get to mid which unfortunately makes the strategy a bit crappy. Which is a shame as rocket jumping is fun :&#60;]]></description>

Problem isn't that the pickaxe is overpowered, its rather the shovel that is utterly useless. Pre-update we all agreed that the soldier needed a buff, the pickaxe is supposed to be the solution.

That said, if the pickaxe is getting nerfed. It should be given less dmg, making it a retreat weapon only. Should take away the rambo-aspect.]]></description>

    	    <description><![CDATA[Pickaxe is fine, and Valve already stated that they were looking into powering up the shovel so there's more of a choice involved.

Also Gunboots allows you to try new things, because you can pull off jumps that would kill you before. They're obviously very situational. Right now very few people even dare to try them, the day a D1 soldier manage some incredible kills with the boots thanks to a new approach, everyone will try to mimic him. In the meanwhile, there's no point in changing them.]]></description>

    	    <description><![CDATA[Gunboats can be really usefull, for instance if you're playing fastlane and you want a solly on the roof at mid, badda-boom, badda-bing, on go the gunboats, (who needs the shotgun from up high?), and you're there before anyone else, control the roof and win mid.  Change back once you die.  Useful.  I'm sure there are other situations when they might be useful too.]]></description>
