I had a Barracuda once, with the special soundcard. Wrote a review about it:
http://ariekanarie.nl/archives/15/razer-barracuda-ias-ac1-hp1-review
It was so bad I thought it was defective, so I RMA-ed it and got a replacement:
http://ariekanarie.nl/archives/16/razer-barracuda-ias-update

Get a proper pair of hifi headphones, the Sennheiser HD555 is an affordable one. Get a Creative Audigy 2 or newer card.
1. Install the card and crappy Creative drivers
2. Configure stuff in the drivers like this. If you set it to 'headphones' you'll get a better 3d effect but bad music output.
3. Configure stuff in windows audio like this
4. Set the game to 5.1 surround sound

Enjoy 3d surround sound from stereo headphones. If you don't think that's possible, put on some headphones and listen to this

I have this headset, i wouldn't bother with it.

It's always been nothing but an annoyance. Whilst the sound quality is good and it is very very comfortable, i would say that the microphone on it is an absolute pile of shit. The connectors at the back are always getting swapped around and changed whenever i update either a driver or windows, the software for it is pretty average at best.

So yeah - sound is fine, but the microphone is an absolute mess. It will always be slightly lower quality than anything else, it'll always be a constant fight to keep yourself audible on voice comms. Some ingame voice comms systems are so shit that, in combination with the mic's shitness, you probably won't be able to use in-game voice comms.

I once had a great 'feature' that i could literally drown out everyone's sound on any public tf2 server - all gunshots, footsteps, explosions and other voice comms, simply by holding down my talk key.

So if you want to grief people in this way i heartily recommend the shitpile that is razer barracuda.

The barraducdas are very old at this point and requires a special (expensive) soundcard that has a crappy korea-chipset on it without proper win7 drivers.

So, no.

Unless you want piss-poor sound quality, scrap the steelseries-stuff -- even the old AKG K240s I have on the attic that were studio-standard 20 years ago and cost like 40€ today are twenty times better.

So, no.

All these "virtual" surround-HPs are utter crap as well (for example, Razer Megalodon). I tossed the megalodons in the bin after 3 hours, they were just PURE CRAP.

Fact is, no matter how you look at it, you can't get "good surround" in a pair of HPs and still get the stuffyou wanted (i.ex lightweight).

Either get a proper surround-setup with small spots or wear that brick on your head with multiple speaker-elements.

well thanks for the opinion and i'll take it into consideration BUT not true about the fact that barracuda needs a special sound card, there is a standard 6 jack adapter plug into the box so they'll work just fine with every sound card BUT many says not just as good as they would with native sound card of razer.
i'am now taking into consideration siberia and roccat and reading something about them. thx all for opinions other opinions are welcome as well thx guys :)

The Siberia v2 is pretty nice. It's really comfortable to wear and quite light weight. It's a closed headset so you won't hear people shouting at you. The sound quality is pretty good if you don't mind having reduced base levels, it really was quite shocking to find how low it was compared to other headsets i've used in recent years. Saying that, it depends on what you want it for. If you want to know where people are through walls, it's awesome for that but if you want to listen and enjoy some music, it's not the best.
