Trusting langoing people to wake you up before a match isn't really a good idea if they've been knocked out of competition the night before in a playoff they didn't know about and therefore intent on going drunk&stoned. ;p Whiteboard may have helped out there ;)

Hi!

- Coverage
Havent got too much to say about the coverage, thought it was fine as even our team got casted once. Arx, Beta and A_spec were giving good commentary, on a certain point i found myself watching them and their pc instead of one of the players, good job!

- Communication (before AND during the event)
the schedule was clear, but because of all the delays we had no clue when to play. Just started another game of "shithead" when dunc suddenly said we needed to play "RIGHT NOW". Rest was kinda OK, not much to complain about

- Tournaments
Well it was a pity there were so few "shit" teams, i mean most of the teams were div2+ so we didnt stand a chance. Wouldve been more fun to have everyone play for their postition (ie playing for 7-8, 9-10 place on sunday)

- Schedule
Fine, got ruined due to the delays.

- WZZRD itself, as a venue
Prices were good, employees were kinda chill. Tho, they may have been a bit too chilled out because when we wanted to start on saturday none of the things they should have done was done. Kinda fucked up we still had to fix +/-10 pcs

- Anything else!

Im really HATE paying 50€ for 2 hours of tf2. next time make sure we get to play pcws!

Also, the huts were great but people, please make sure you have a place to sleep. I ve had 4 guys asking me if there still was any room.

There were a couple of times when players had disappeared or hadn't even woken up and therefore had to be fetched (*cough* appe).

Yes, must have been sooo hard for the other 29 persons sleeping in the huts to wake me up ! :D fuckers.

-Coverage: Very good coverage on resupply etc. But as said before, some kind of tournament tree on a whiteboard or something would have been nice.
-Communication: You did a good job keeping us updated on when we were going to play. Still it would have been nice to know exactly when the next game was supposed to be played so you could have gone and grabbed some food etc.
-Tournaments: Nice idea with the silver tournament working as a "lower bracket". Wouldn't have hurt with some more maps and not just your own favourites ;D
-Schedule: Worked fine, I wouldn't mind starting a little earlier in the morning to avoid it being delayed too late in the evening. If the event was to get increased by another day due to less lan dodgers you could have 1st group stage on day 1, 2nd group stage/early playoffs on day 2 and finals on day 3.
-WZZRD: Didn't like their setup at all, dream scenario would be 6 designated pcs per team in a row, so that it wouldn't take longer to set up the computers than actally playing the game. No idea what IT Cafés could host that though. Loved the bar. :D

Big thanks to dunc and everyone else who made this possible, looking forward to TCL2 with far less lan dodgers and hopefully no mysterious alleys in Amsterdam!

First of all props to dunc and amon getting this thing organised.

Two points I see that could have been better:

1. Accomodation awareness. If it hadn't been for vlijm putting up the possibility to hire the cabins (which were really very comfortable, almost as good as the 'deluxe' rooms), most people would never have found out about this.
This might have drawn in more players (those that where thinking they would have to arrange a hotel for themselves). Maybe tie a accomodation option in with the tup payment page, so they can arrange their stay and pay for it all at once. (vlijm&myself had to pay for the cabin this time around and had to run around and get everyone to pay their share).

2. Have WZZRD set up their computers properly. Wasn't all fun turing up for a tf2 lan and having to play cod4 cuz the computers wheren't ready. Also having to install mumble&update drivers isn't really my idea of TUP. (I know im a bit whiney here but for 50 euros i've almost been setting up computers more then i've played tf2).

Thats my 2cts.

(ow btw I should've googled first for supermarkets there where a coupla that where a bit nearer by then the one I took you all to :O)

*edit* add an alarmclock to the 'things to bring' page for appe :p <3

The venue was great, nice bar and lovely pc's with 22" widescreens. Working verry stable, no formats or swaps needed. Only a lot of fps drops even with a fps config. Not able to sit with 6ppl together in all setups was also a small downside.

Maybe provide next time some information about the local pizza delivery or something.

Well done Dunc and entourage.

+1 for the whiteboard for the schedules. Could have been much easier to estimate the free time if the schedule had been available offline. Of course there will be delays, but it's probably easier to say that there's 2 hours break if there are three matches before our one is supposed to start.

The WZZRD as a LAN place probably brought some challenges for scheduling the matches as we had to swap the computers for about every match. Sometimes it took really long time to get everything working and sometimes everything worked out of the box. Changing mumble and keyboard to german didn't speed up much to get it configured properly for the ones not speaking german. The good side with WZZRD was the bar!

Some kind of store to buy supplies would have been nice. I think there was one in about 2km range but wasn't able to find it. So for the next time there should be more coverage about the services nearby.

But after all it was a very nice being there and considering the organizational resources and the place all went very well!

Yeah I totally agree about a "whiteboard" solution. Everything WAS on the website but as a few of you said, it's kinda hard to check a website when you're not at a PC... :D

Hard to know when to play most of the time (whiteboard ftw) since the only place to check was on the internet and well - if you weren't already playing you didn't get to use a computer.

The problem with this is that nobody - including myself - had any idea how long it would actually take for the games to get underway. Sometimes whole teams had their PCs setup in 15 minutes, sometimes it literally took an hour. There were a couple of times when players had disappeared or hadn't even woken up and therefore had to be fetched (*cough* appe).

The swapping and changing was just really pretty annoying from an organisational POV as I was rarely able to accurately say "yeah, sure, 30mins and you're playing", the best I could manage was "yeah, you're straight on after this game".

I really do apologise to the Rotary Sex Pirates, they got the shit end of the stick on Saturday evening. When you walked past me to "get your equipment", I thought you meant you were getting it from the car or something - not your hotel! I'm really sorry about that.

Please carry on with the feedback, positive or negative, this was a huge learning experience for me and if we organise another one it'll be this kind of thread which will help to make it even better.

Well to solve location issues for some people, 2 whiteboards could be a decent solution for a future event.

1st whiteboard would be an admin board. Only showing relevent information about matches, changes in schedule etc..

2nd board could be a community board where players can write anything on it, such as 'Is anyone going to McDonalds?', 'Need supermarket run, pm me!', 'need merc for 15cet' etc... Myself and Beta had a car with us so would have been able to go on a shopping run if people needed supplies (asuming we were going to the supermarket).

I'll write something about my views of the event in the near future, just having a lazy day ;p

Considering the organization was pretty much 2-man team and during the tourney itself only one man army you did a VERY good job dunc, but I know you know that already so no point in going further down that lane.

WZZRD itself was kinda fail as you did tell me when we were talking aswell, not planning in advance etc is just bleh. The place itself was nice and all but they could have sorted out all stuff with comps in advance...

Lastly: next time you should consider trying to get a big screen for specing at the other side of the place (where there were only chairs and tables). This to make it easier to spec (and drink at the same time) and also possible to add the schedule there so people can easier see when their game is.

The wait for Rotary Sex Pirates for 2 hours cause they had went home wasnt really awesome.. Good enough the game was! :D

All in all: Amon and Dunc, wp! Next time don't ragequit dunc... ;)

The coverage of the matches was very nice.

WZZRD might not have been the best of places I guess, with not beeing able to play at all on friday and first game delayed hours on saturday, and slow computers that could hardly coop with TF2 - The beer was nice tho :) The location kinda sucked with no shops nearby and no cheap place to eat.

Besides from that it was a blast :D

Coverage was good. Quadv, resupply.eu, tfportal and mytf should be enough :) Waiting for pics and stuff to come online...

- Communication (before AND during the event)
Agree with tapley and dudes on the whiteboard thingy. People would have had time to go shopping or take a manicure between the games if they had known how long it takes.

- Tournaments
Some fun cup would have been nice maybe. Dunno how it woulf fit the timetable though.

-Anything else
The venue was good and near the hotels. Still can't stop thinking would it be good to have next TCL in some other country which has bigger clan base (england,germany,finland...).
