I doubt that it's all just personal preference. It's like saying throwing a ball on basketball is just a personal preference, but then why do 99% of the NBA players throw the ball exactly the same?
Actually its NOTHING like that, if your not comfortable with your mouse you will play badly, fair enough you could just get used to it but most people build a play style early on and stick to it.
