What AppZ said, although personal preference does have an impact. e.g. When I bought lachesis and tried it I found it to be the worst shaped mouse I've ever touched.

The only way I could use it with my hand (long fingers btw) the way I hold a mouse was for my pinky finger to curl under in a circle shape, into the little indent at the bottom of the mouse.

After about 20 mins of that my hand ached. Only used it for a couple of days before getting fed up and giving it to my mum:D Even she hated it, so then I gave it to a mate for his new pc.

Saying that, there are so many different "actions" as AppZ put it that can be made with the mouse, different techniques and aim styles which favour or hinder aim in different scenarios, or different games, so to some extent they seem to cancel each other out.

I think this is why we see players managing to achieve similar overall results with entirely different setups and technique.

Actually its NOTHING like that, if your not comfortable with your mouse you will play badly, fair enough you could just get used to it but most people build a play style early on and stick to it. Id say its easy moving from high sensitivity to low sensitivity but to change the way you hold you mouse etc might be alot harder.

wrong, unless your physiology differs from the rest of the average population then there is always going to be an optimal way of performing an action, the basketball example is a good one

It's really not that hard to change the way you hold the mouse. I started using palm for solly a couple days back. At the begging it was quite strange, but now I dont fell anything, it's totally natural and comfortable. Still use fingertips for sniping though...
