Windows comes with a service that automatically searches for new wireless providers at regular intervals. Each time performs the check it causes a brief ping spike or "halt." This program disables the service.

Hello Joseph

1: How many is using your connection?
-> If anyone else is using the connection: Disconnect them, and see if the problem continues. Also make sure to verify the WiFi security settings is acceptable and that there are no "unwanted" guests on your network by checking the DHCP table in your router. Always kids out wardriving these days, that can easily mess with your connection

2: What kind of connection do you have? ADSL, Mobile broadband, Fibre, or other? Nevertheless, do a speedtest http://www.speedtest.net/. I would say the minimum requirement for decent online gaming is 256kbps if you are the only user of the connection.

3: Be a 100% sure that your PC is clean for virus/Malware. Even though you already cleaned it, check it again. Get a good overview about what's currently running on your PC by using this program: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

4: Open your resource monitor -> Network to get a detailed overview about what's currently running on your computer and how much bandwidth it's taking (Can be opened by writing "resmon" in run or in the search bar.)

5: Do you play any other online games? If yes: Is the issue the same, or is the issue only in TF2? If it's only in TF2: Make sure you haven't got any dodgy settings your TF2 config.
