Taunt kill is essentially a 1 hit kill at a point in time. The area of effect is a horizontal wall extending from the middle of your model, so it can hit people above and below you to an extent.

With the medic's taunt kill, it seems there are two chances to get the taunt kill (I think huntsman works the same), when he pushes forwards and when he pulls back.

Usually what happens with the medic taunt kill is when he thrusts, and someone is caught, they are stunned until he pulls back to get the kill.

In this case a combination of server lag, the medic lagging and or jackle lagging, meant that the thrust didn't cause jackle to get stunned, but the backthrust still resulted in a kill.
