According to this, having a ridiculously high fov has it's own drawbacks. If the limit is removed, it just evens the playing field and lets everyone use ~120. I mean, who's going to use 180 fov? And if you can play on 160 then kudos to you.

If there is a disadvantage they already have it with people that currently modify their aspect ratio. I think the max is 180 though, anything above will make you not be able to see anything. I don't think it's very good to play with something that high either, you will just get sick after a while.]]></description>
