valve patched it so that you only need to have the file in the ui folder

    	    <description><![CDATA[Hello all. I'm having a problem with my hitsound. I have renamed quake sound to hitsound.wav, and put the sound into sound/UI folder. Still the sound is not working.. Any ideas? Thank you in advanced]]></description>
