i was just thinking that before i read your post wlv. we (GoT²) started in div4 and lost alot of games and had to go to div5. then we had an ok season and a great play off so now we are going back to div4. those last games were the most fun (and stress) i ever had in tf2 and i think we made some nice progression even if we are only low+.

to all clanless players i can just say: find yourself a stable clan with some nice guys even if it's div 4 or 5 and have fun and work yourself up. the seasons are not that long so if you really deserve to play in a higher division you will get there.

now stop bitching a go play! ;)

unfortunately the mentality that to progress players have to 'move on' is slightly detrimental. Ofc some players are in the situation where their clan plays rarely has little commitment or doesnt have a competitive agenda. BUT we see too often that clans are some sort of 'template' that you have to outgrow to progress. This should really be the case as it leaves some clans doomed from progression. If your in a clan with dedicated players it shouldnt be hard to progress with the clan.

Relentless - the high+ bit wasn't directed at you but at other people in a similar situation :)

I guess the best way to find a team is approach them yourself, tell them who you are, your past experience, your aims. Most importantly be honest about your skill level..when I was cl of TLR nothing annoyed me more than pms from people claiming they are god.. The only pmer that got in was fragga and he was honest when he said his aim was good but be needed to work on certain things..

Anyway, pm as many div4/3 teams as you can, even if they say they're full offer to merc for them if ever they are short one night. Eventually you will get a chance to prove yourself..gl

If someone thinks money is their only motivation to continue playing I would recommend them to quit.
I see computer games and especially TF2 as something that should be funny, interesting and rewarding because of the gameplay. I don't expect someone to pay me for investing my time in TF2. My improvents in skill is reward enough.
I can understand the problem for the top teams if there are too few teams capable of playing on the same or higher level than them, because then there are not enough possibilities for further improvments for them.
On the other hand there are quite a lot of active players and many of them seems eager to play at a higher level (just look at all "seek div2/div1 team" posts).

There seems to be need for more competetive teams with players willing to fight hard to get to the top. All clanless people should go together and form new teams. However, there seems to be a lack of leader-types willing to lead a clan and take responsibility. Everyone just seems to want to join a clan where all the hard work is done already.

Problem is, a div4 or even div3 team will almost never pick up a div5ish player, but a div5ish player will never improve to a div3/4ish level if he keeps playing in div5. Plus, I never stated myself to mid++++ or something ;)

tf2 rocks, l4d rocks, tf2 deserves lans, l4d does too

L4D is gonna have prizemoney at i36.. whilst tf2 probably won't have anything more than a tiered prize fund - whether or not that will be the only lan for it who knows... EA are probably going to put the money in for the L4D one (they are a distributer).. of course this is only rumour, but a little bird tells me that the dignitas medley team already have a team lines up. So if they are gonna take a team on for a game like that, im sure tf2 wouldn't be that difficult to get into a 'similar' organisation as is happening time and time again (4k, drz, tlr[hmm]) etc, and i wouldn't be that suprised if someone like dunc or wlv wrote a long winded proposal to EA to support a game they published by giving it some money for once, then they might actually do it, they are good at throwing money away

i simply suggest that people stop whining (like i have done in the past) and start doing something about tf2's state, nervousgamers.com are kindly paying for 6 of our tickets at i36 with no guaranteed prize fund, big orgs will still take on teams, what do they lose? the only thing is u dont get to goto lans (4k for example) i'd be greatly appreciative if someone could influence some monies so i can say thanks to ragey for finding the funding to reimburse my ticket, and getting 5 more

As long as there are still classes to update, and a new one to be released, tf2 will keep on going (: and more players will come in on every free weekend @ the releases. I was one of them in the medic update.
