normally there is a led (it can be any colour) on the front of your pc, that flickers when you open a program/start computer, this indicates that the HDD is working, if it is constantly flashing very fast whilst you are playing TF2 it indicates that your PC is either doing something else or you have ran out of physical memory and your computer is using your HDD which will be a massive hit on your FPS.

I really don't see how reformatting will effect how TF2 runs, surely the furthest back you could go to effect TF2 would be reinstalling steam altogether?

Not really, I do a reformat every few months just to keep things running nicely (not games really, don't really ever have drops in FPS over time).

Just helps to clear the gunk out, and stops problems that have accumulated. If the problem with TF2 is software or driver related, it might eliminate it too.

Hi, any help would be very much appreciated.

Basically, I went away for a few days, came back and saw that TF2 was updating. So I updated and started TF2, saw my hud was fucked, reinstalled and started up walkway to check if it was working. It was, but I noticed my FPS was about max 30, which I assumed was because of running loads of bots or something. I joined a pub server (Not 32 man) and was having the same problem.

I've tried restarting TF2, turned all my settings down to lowest and am currently doing a defrag and verifying game cache (whatever they do) so besides reinstalling, is there anything you guys would suggest I do?
