Exactly, it's just a matter of choices, you're not forced to craft items (as stated before), you're free to choose it, either you wait to find them, or you craft them, but you're not forced to do so, you just need to know what has priority in your opinion. It's very well possible that you craft gunboats and that the first time you die wearing them, you find them, bad luck, but it happens.

bottom line is, you now have 100% chance on getting these items (since the items that are used to craft them can bet achieved through the class milestones), but if you don't have those double, you'll be making a choice.

Crafting still isn't a 100% chance. In theory unlucky guy x could never get the gunboats no matter how hard he tries.

Imagine a fighting game with a secret character that is unlocked totally randomly and you can't influence the time he is unlocked at all - you might get him after 1 day and you might still not have him after 6 months - would you allow that character if you were running a tournament?

A general permission is hence not in question imo - a "if both teams agree"-rule would be okay though.

The new weapons have been tried out before.
FaN, sandman, DH, none of them add any game changing tactics.

There's no real advantage to having them, and the disadvantage is rather obvious.
They lower the skill ceiling and therefore induce irritation.

I haven't ever played against a team that used the Sandman besides a latenight-lolmix I believe - probably because it was prematurely banned at a time where it was annoying and when they nerfed it people didn't bother with it because they deemed it "useless". How can you say these weapons add no game-changing tactics after a few weeks of testing?

I'd like to use a SF example as reference as well as Hyperfunk. In the game SF3: 3rd strike, there's a character called Makoto. When the game first came out, many people who played her at first deemed her as shit and not worth maining so she was pretty low at the tier list at that time. Noone bothered with her until some guys that ignored the tier list picked her up and started beasting with her, discovering a lot of useful stuff with her. After they found out that she was actually a good character, more people picked her up, hence discovering more stuff and further improving her meta game.
Makoto is now considered the 4th best character in the game overall.

Replace SF3:3s with TF2 and Makoto with Random New Weapon and you'll see a resemblance.

Maybe look at it another way?

Right now, team tactics have been pretty much the same, allowing these items could actually introduce a couple of new ways to push on to a point etc, I mean, if you notice that, during a first round on any map, the opposing team is using for example the sandman, you'll take countermeasures the next round automatically, won't you? This could be by changing your rollout or switching to a different weapon yourself.

I think it would actually give season 8 a whole new look, some teams might get some unexpected results with it, or is that what's being feared?

Actually the argument was that it was statistically possible to never get a random drop of or able to craft a pair of gunboats, the issue was never with crafting away your items and relying on random drops because that's true of any weapon. If you choose to craft away your targe + charge and razorback which you unlocked from achievements, that's your problem. Since both weapons are guaranteed from achievements and the new community weapons are guaranteed from crafting of those weapons, its fine.

The Predator football boots were designed by an ex-player to give the wearer the ability to make the ball spin more to give it more curve in the air.

The Direct Hit was claimed to be inspired by Moose's post on the beta forum as a weapon that rewards soldier accuracy with greater damage. I don't think it's unfair to say there's a parallel there.

Larger goal keeper gloves artificially increase a goalkeepers reach, making them a straight upgrade unlock. They're also a good counter to the increased swerve of the modern ball (caused by the ball and boots). A perfect example of how the game changes, then players adapt to it. The Direct Hit is a counter to the Gunboats.

I don't follow the game at all really now, I was lucky enough to be into it at a club level when the predators were first released so I knew a bit about them along with the other rule changes in the nineties. I couldn't name the England lineup at the moment, even though I'll watch them at the World Cup this summer (stiff upper lip at the ready) ;)

The backpass rule definitely changed gameplay mechanics for defenders, but if you want even more appropriate examples - the predator boots in 1994, the gradual adoption of goalkeeper gloves in the 1970s to near ubiquity in the modern game, the continuing kit evolution to increase aerodynamics as well as keeping the player cool, also shin pads were first used 11 years after the creation of the Football Association (FA).
