To be honest why don't we just have overtime? :x

I say this just because resetting and doing another mid fight seems very hit or miss for two even matched teams that is some what of a coin toss. But dunno just think golden cap isn't great for ctf.

I think it's a bug in the game - it doesn't really make sense... Like in the BFF vs TLR game just now, it was 1-1, 10 seconds left, no way either team could cap. But TLR suicided everyone just to pick the flag up (and drop it, going into overtime). BFF could have easily capped and made it 2-1 but for some reason they all stayed in their intel room until everyone else spawned (guess they didn't realise it was going into overtime).

Any problems with this idea:

If you win a round you get a point, if you draw a round you get half a point. It's still best of 3 ie first to 2 points.

In the three rounds possible you can have a team winning 2-0, a team winning 2-1, (either simply 2-1 or where 2 rounds are drawn then one team wins another), a draw 1.5 each, (in the unlikely event of 3 drawn rounds or a win each and a drawn round), where a golden cap is played to break the deadlock.

Scores should be input as 2-1 Golden cap to the winners of the final 5 minute round. If after 2 rounds the score is 1.5-0.5 a third round is played as normal as it's first to 2. If it ends 1.5-1.5 a 5 minute golden cap is played as above.

Simples...ish.

So some of the games played on turbine this season would have been at least 50 minutes?
No thanks

The thing is, it's only a coin toss because that's how people choose to play. It's not always essential on a map like Turbine to contest the mid at all. The attacking team's advantage is only that they _might_ get some respawners in time to defend a push on their intel, if they fail their attack. A viable strat is to not commit onto the mid section, and to attempt a medic pick with a soldier and demoman. The rest of your team can be on full defence, and if you land the med pick, you're going to have an uber advantage to push out with.

It just so happens, most teams would want to push out, and have a winner takes all battle until someone wipes, resulting in a free intel.

It is virtually impossible to get a medic pick as a soldier or demo though when the other team is holding mid to get their uber up. An extremely lucky spy pick might work, but the only real option is a sniper.

I agree with you and believe this could be said about most maps. The idea being if you don't want to go middle without risking a wipe go second etc. However with turbine and ctf maps there is no rule of who has middle wins rule and it could force a stalemate condition on how you are saying. Personally I wouldn't want to play a stalemate game type isn't really the style of play I just don't believe gc fits the game mode of ctf. However I don't like the idea of writing off a round, feels like time wasted.

I only suggest overtime because it allows teams to play in the state that they are during that time and not focus a random outcome. Regardless there needs to be clarity.

I was surprised to find Turbine more fun than Gravelpit. I thought you'd enjoy doing the Flagwarp.

I am glad we never ran foul of this rule though, never even noticed it as I suppose most didn't (that said we watched a team who didn't seem to even know how many rounds were played).
