The Two Halves way is closer to ESEA rules, but requires more config management. The Three Rounds Way uses only one config, but is somewhat different from ESEA rules - however it still solves the "bus parking problem". You have to keep track of teams' total scores across rounds in either case - there is no way around it that I know of.

We just voted on this season's unlocks.

This would be awesome to watch and, IMO, would breathe some life into the European scene.

I for one would watch it.

Oh yes of course, it'd be really useful to leave in the unlocks, alienating at least 75% of the teams above div3, and a fair amount below that. Plus the point of a cup is to test one variable, so why not add another crazy one in there? The more the merrier.

On the other hand, a cup with some rule changes that actually could be implemented in the eu scene and could be helpful for speeding up the pace of games? PAH, NEEDS GUNBOATS.

There should be a cup simply differing in the rulesets. If they're helpful, and promote a faster pace, it would be very interesting to then run a cup to see whether a very few unlocks should be allowed on top of that. The ruleset should be the priority though, as I think most people agree that there are some issues with the current EU turtling defensive strategies in terms of pace, whereas there is major differences of opinion when it comes to unlocks.

from my spectator pov i would like to see the NA format as well.

i think the NA format is inarguably more entertaining, but there is a solid case for 'top level' teams being patient (boring), finding their window when it comes along instead of trying to force it. then using defenders advantage to make it super difficult for the other team (boring but smart).

at the very least the NA format should be the standard for pickup or lobby games. what's more boring than a pickup/lobby game where people get 1-2 caps up and then turtle?

tbh NA ruleset could be 10x more entertaining (ruleset, without unlocks) cuz would be epic comebacks etc, now u win few points and can waste time for ages or when it's 4-0, you pretty much can't loose as there's a lack of time. NA Ruleset for some tryout cups and then S13!

P.S

An american said that when he used vanilla as roamer, he had to go even more agressive, since it was harder for him to simply jump back out. I think it has a lot to do with the mentality the the two sides, more than rules.

But with NA rules at least, parking the bus is not actually rewarded. On the other hand I do like two maps per official, since you can sometimes get a wake up call on first map and go onto win the second.
